Students were lined up and being dismissed for lunch recess on one Friday afternoon. I noticed a student who seemed a bit upset. He had removed himself from his peers and had refused to eat his lunch. With concern, I approached this student to inquire if everything was okay. Without making any eye contact, he simply nodded his head "yes". "Red flag", I thought....Something was bothering this student. I quietly removed the student from the noisy gym and we walked around the school. I was doing all the talking while the student just strolled slowly with me in silence. When we approached his locker, he asked if he could get something out of his locker. He finally spoke! He timidly opened his locker and a smile instantly spread across his face. I asked,"Is everything okay?" and the student smiled and shouted "Yes!". He quickly closed the locker and ran to eat his lunch. Curiously, I opened the locker to see why there was such a sudden change in the student's demeanor. I noticed nothing in the locker but books and the backpack of Hand2Hand food. It was at that moment I said a special prayer to God, thanking HIM for sending angels to take care of the children. It was the Hand2Hand food that the student had been anticipating all morning. What a difference you make in the lives of some of our children. Thank you Hand2Hand!

Hand2Hand has helped our students see/feel a connection with others in our community.

The look in the children's eyes when they receive their bag of food is what community service is all about!

I think the beauty of it is the partnership relationship. The school and church work with the families to make the whole program a positive experience!

All schools should be a part of this!

Our partners are so faithful and good.

Kids really look forward to them. The children count on it as a source of encouragement and feeling ‘special’

We have an upper elementary student who learned how to cook based on Hand2Hand providing her family with food.
